We knew the Taliban were terrorists. We knew that they were capable of breaking countless human rights. Yet, Biden let them take over Afghanistan without even bothering to put up a fight. We let our ally down, and now, they have to pay the ultimate price.
No child should be sold so that her family can buy groceries.
No adult male should want a child bride.
Though, these are the unthinkable thing that are happening in Afghanistan now that the Taliban is back in power. Here’s hoping that Biden is capable of sleeping at night knowing the atrocities he’s allowed to happen.
The Taliban seized power, which means that Afghan families are being deprived of humanitarian aid. As such, they’re being forced to avoid starvation using any means possible. And because the Taliban is in charge, human rights are being violated.
It’s resulting in families selling their small daughters to old men. A CNN broadcast shared the story of a 9-year-old girl by the name of Parwana Malik being sold to a 55-year-old for $2000. The purpose? So that she could be his wife.
There are more and more children being sold as brides…and it’s making the market price drop significantly.
Pedophilia is running rampant. The sale of child brides has long been an issue. There’s also what is known as bacha bazi, which is a practice of raping boys. These issues have plagued Afghanistan for decades…and it’s only getting worse.
Unfortunately, “Islamic principles” dictate that it’s okay for child marriages to occur. In 2013, the Afghan Parliament voted against a proposal that would have banned such marriages from taking place.
Now that we’re in the second era of Taliban rule, child marriages for girls are skyrocketing. As CNN reporter Anna Coren talked to various families, they all blamed a lack of access to food as the reason for selling their daughters.
CNN caught the entire sale of Malik on camera. The young girl told CNN that ““My father sold me because we don’t have bread, rice, or flour. He has sold me to an old man.” Other girls have threatened to kill themselves if their parents go through with the deals.
While child marriages have always been around, they’re out in the open now due to the Taliban victory. We’ve known that Joe Biden enjoys sniffing kids, but even he has to realize that what’s being allowed to happen is simply wrong.
The Agence France-Presse discovered last week that a family sold their two daughters, ages six-years and 18-months, as a means of avoiding starving to death.
Where is the humanitarian aid? It’s been frozen as most of the world has yet to accept the Taliban as the official leaders of Afghanistan…and for good reason.
World banks are freezing the assets to prevent the Taliban from using them. If they were willing to slaughter thousands to gain control of the country, there’s no telling what they’ll do when they have access to millions of dollars. Even if the assets were unfrozen, there’s no guarantee that the humanitarian aid would go to those who are starving and in need of food.
One spokesman for the Taliban has said “Just give us our own money” insisting that the money belongs to the Afghan nation. Ahmad Wali Haqmal has said, “Freezing this money is unethical and is against all international laws and values.”
Yeah, well so is selling young girls into marriage with people who are ten times their age.
It’s a humanitarian mess, and the only one we can blame for the countless atrocities is sitting in the Oval Office.
