As the ones responsible for how news and the events of our world are portrayed, reporters and journalists can get a terrible rap. Sometimes those are well deserved, say for those who try to distort the news so that it fits their political agenda or in a way that they get more publicity and money out of it.
However, some of them are only doing their job. They are getting out there, pushing to the front, being bold, and asking questions solely for their boss or company. They are trying to do their job to the best of their abilities. Unfortunately, some of those tasks have some rather nasty consequences.
I’ll give you a recent example.
On Thursday, Nancy Pelosi held a press conference, in which she spoke of the ongoing impeachment hearings and several other political topics. Naturally, reporters in attendance were given opportunities to ask her questions.
However, one reporter used a word that she apparently isn’t very fond of and, in so doing, got quite the lashing from the House Speaker.
The simple question was if she hated President Donald Trump or not. And she threw a fit, threatening the reporter and saying, “Don’t mess with me.”
The quick and ruthless thrashing, of course, was caught on tape and therefore posted online within minutes, where it almost immediately went viral. Naturally, those on the left praised Pelosi’s efforts, while the nation watched in shock as a reporter was belittled and trashed on live television for asking a simple question.
NBC News tweeted about the incident, saying, “Speaker Pelosi pushes back after a reporter asks if she “hates” President Trump: ‘I don’t hate anybody… As a Catholic, I resent your using the word ‘hate…’ Don’t mess with me when it comes to words like that.”
A little harsh, huh?
And I’m not the only one who thinks so. Many, many others agreed, saying that her response was a complete overreaction and totally uncalled for.
However, even the multitude of backlash she received from this did little to persuade her to apologize. Instead, it only seems to encourage her all the more. Only a few days later, her campaign is now using her threat to raise money.
Her campaign website is now selling “Don’t Mess With Nancy” shirts for the Democratic leader. The shirts’ description or name, according to the site, is: “Don’t. Mess. With. Me.” A simple but very threatening message to be sure.
I have to wonder if she notices the hypocrisy here. How many times has she and her cohorts accused President Trump of attacking the media and/or journalists, only to be caught red-handed doing the same?
And it would seem that Pelosi is not the only politician on the left who has a tendency to lash out at reporters when things don’t go their way.
Take drop-out White House hopeful and former Texas Representative Beto O’Rourke, for instance. He specifically called on the media to keep him accountable for his actions and words. And yet, during one of his campaign events, he lashed out and banned one journalist for doing just that.
House Intelligence Committee Chairman Representative Adam Schiff took his grievance towards one journalist even farther. John Solomon, who was reporting on the impeachment trials, made a habit of talking about the Ukraine controversy and, in particular, the Biden’s possible involvement in it. Apparently, Schiff didn’t like this. So the congressman dug up dirt on Solomon and had his phone records published online.
Talk about vengeance. It didn’t matter that Solomon’s writings were founded in truth. The only thing of any consequence was that Schiff didn’t like it. Apparently, Solomon should have considered his topic options more carefully.
But then again, you never know what is going to set those ninny liberals off their rocker.
For Pelosi, it was one little word. She now makes almost $40 for every shirt her “Pelosi for Congress” website sells. No, it won’t make her rich, but it does prove that she is absolutely shameless. Not only did she threaten a member of the media who were just doing their job, but now she is exploiting that incident for her own benefit.
We can only hope that people see her for the queen of filth, liberal that she is and don’t give her another term.
