It’s been said that money is the root of all evil. And for some, that is definitely true. Nothing else seems to change someone like the amount of cash in their pocket unless, of course, you consider fame. But the two seem to go hand in hand more often than not.
In fact, the two combined have been known to make some do pretty crazy things in the hope of gaining more. And that is what brings us to today’s discussion.
You see fame and money, money and fame are what seems to be driving the 55-year-old Mary Trump, although she won’t admit it. She is the niece of our President Donald Trump and has just finished a book that promised to be quite “damaging” to her uncle.
According to the Daily Beast, the daughter of the President’s deceased brother Fred Trump Jr. worked with the New York Times on a 2018 report claiming that Donald had been involved in “fraudulent” tax schemes in the 1990s.
And this book, titled “Too Much and Never Enough: How My Family Created the World’s Most Dangerous Man,” tells all about the schemes as well as several other “harrowing and salacious” stories.
Some even have to do with the death of Mary’s father, Fred Trump Jr.
Fred Trump Jr. died at the age of 42 from a heart attack that many in the family believe was credited to his love of alcohol. However, there was also a great deal of stress put on the man, according to his brother Donald Trump.
Fred Jr., who was eight years Donald’s senior, didn’t quite have the business drive of his father or his brother. However, there was considerable pressure from the family, including Donald and their father, Fred Sr., to take over the family’s real estate business.
Donald told the Washington Post once, “I do regret having put pressure on him. It was just not his thing. … I think the mistake that we made was we assumed that everybody would like it. That would be the biggest mistake. … There was sort of a double pressure put on him.”
Fred Jr.’s death only served to complicate family issues, especially when his father died years later in 1999.  When Fred Jr. died in 1984, his father, quite naturally, revised his will, leaving Fred Jr. out of it, although including his two children, Fred 3rd and Mary. However, in a later draft of Fred Sr.’s will, both Fred 3rd and Mary were mostly cut out.
According to Donald, Fred Sr. had a “tremendous dislike” for Fred Jr.’s wife. And apparently, he was nervous about giving money to the children because of that dislike for the mother. Donald said, “I think he felt if it goes to the two children, it also maybe can go to the mother indirectly. He felt the mother was the cause of some of Fred’s difficulty, and Fred had a difficult life.”
When the last draft of the will was made known after Fred Sr.’s death, Fred 3rd and Mary contested it, filing a lawsuit against the remaining Trump siblings, including Donald Trump. And for Donald, the suite was “disappointing. They sued my father, essentially. I’m not thrilled when someone sues my father.”
And so Donald and his remaining siblings played hardball back, revoking Fred 3rd and Mary’s health insurance policy that the family had always held for them.
Are you starting to see how this is all about more money and fame?
Mary, just like Fred 3rd, was essentially cut out of their grandfather’s will. But instead of understanding the dying man’s wishes, they sued him, demanding their father’s would-have-been cut of the family fortune and accusing the remaining Trump siblings of elderly fraud.
Keep in mind that cutting them out of the will was in no way leaving them penniless in the streets. As Donald’s sister Maryanne Trump Barry, a former federal judge, said, “They live like kings and queens. This is not two people left out in the gutter.”
And even Mary admitted as much. She told the press at the time of the lawsuit, that she and her brother could very well afford their own medical insurance. But that didn’t mean she didn’t want more money and fame.
“Given this family, it would be utterly naïve to say it has nothing to do with money. But for both me and my brother, it has much more to do with that our father be recognized.” Which, if you didn’t catch on, equates to fame and fortune.
And now, since she didn’t get her way and apparently is still bitter about it, she is writing a book to “damage” her famous and wealthy Uncle Donald.
How pathetic, indeed.
